Rota Drill

The Supreme rota drill combines a rotavator and a seed drill on one frame, preparing the seedbed and sowing into it in a single pass. Manufactured in Faisalabad by Supreme Agri Implements, it collapses several operations into one โ€” which matters most when the sowing window is short.

What does a rota drill do?

The rotor works first, cutting and mixing the soil into a fine tilth, and the drill unit immediately behind sows into freshly prepared ground. One trip across the field replaces a cultivation pass, a levelling pass and a separate drilling pass.

The gain is not only fuel and tractor hours. Rice-wheat rotation farmers face a genuinely tight turnaround: the later wheat goes in after the rice harvest, the lower the yield potential, and every day of delay costs. A machine that removes two passes can move sowing back inside the optimum window.

There is a second, less obvious benefit. Each tillage pass dries the soil a little more. Preparing and sowing in one operation puts seed into soil that still holds the moisture the rotor just exposed, which improves germination in a dry autumn.

Key features

  • One-pass operation
  • Time saving
  • Fuel efficient
  • Combined function

What is the Rota Drill used for?

  • One-pass seedbed preparation and sowing
  • Wheat sowing in a tight rice-wheat turnaround
  • Fodder and catch-crop establishment where speed matters

What to keep in mind

  • Needs adequate tractor power โ€” it is doing two jobs at once and the rotor is PTO-driven under load.
  • Ground speed affects both tilth and seed placement; find a speed that satisfies both, not just one.
  • Because the rotor works aggressively, vary depth season to season as you would with a standalone rotavator.

Rota Drill โ€” questions and answers

What is a rota drill?

It is a rotavator and seed drill combined on one frame. The rotor prepares a fine seedbed and the drill unit directly behind sows into it, so seedbed preparation and sowing happen in a single pass instead of two or three separate operations.

Does one-pass sowing help germination?

It often does. Every tillage pass dries the soil further, so preparing and sowing simultaneously puts seed into soil that still holds the moisture just exposed by the rotor. In a dry autumn that can make a visible difference to establishment.

Why does it matter for rice-wheat rotation?

Wheat sown late after a rice harvest loses yield potential with every day of delay. A machine that removes two field operations can bring sowing back inside the optimum window, which is usually worth more than the fuel and time it saves.
