Gram Thresher

The Supreme gram thresher handles chana and other pulse crops, where the seed is large, round and splits readily under rough handling. Manufactured in Faisalabad by Supreme Agri Implements, its adjustable settings let the operator thresh cleanly without turning a food-grade sample into split dal.

What does a gram thresher do?

Pulses are the least forgiving crop to thresh. A split gram seed is worth noticeably less than a whole one and is useless as seed for the next crop, yet the pods must still be broken open decisively. The margin between under-threshing and damaging the sample is narrower than on any cereal.

This machine is built around that constraint, with settings that can be opened up for dry, brittle crops and tightened when pods are tougher. Because pulse crops are often grown on smaller holdings and in the rain-fed barani belt, the machine is sized to be practical for growers who are not running large acreages.

Gram straw also has value as fodder, so the machine is designed to leave it in usable condition rather than pulverising it.

What to keep in mind

  • Check the sample for splits every few minutes and back off the settings the moment they appear.
  • Thresh early in the day when the crop carries a little moisture โ€” bone-dry pulses shatter.
  • If you intend to keep seed for planting, thresh that portion at the gentlest setting even if throughput drops.

Gram Thresher โ€” questions and answers

How do I stop gram from splitting during threshing?

Splitting is caused by too much beating force on an over-dry crop. Open the clearance, reduce speed, and thresh in the morning while the crop holds slight moisture. Inspect the sample frequently โ€” by the time splits are obvious in the bag, a lot of value has already been lost.

Which pulse crops can this thresher handle?

It is built primarily for gram (chana) and works across common pulses including lentil, mung and mash, using its adjustable settings to suit each crop's pod toughness and seed size. Contact us in Faisalabad to confirm suitability for a specific crop.

Can I keep the gram straw for fodder?

Yes. The machine is designed to leave gram straw in a condition usable as livestock fodder rather than shredding it, which matters on mixed farms where the crop residue has real feed value.
