Fodder Cutter

The Supreme fodder cutter chops green and dry fodder to a controlled length for livestock feeding. Manufactured in Faisalabad by Supreme Agri Implements, it reduces feed waste, improves intake and makes rationing practical โ€” essential equipment on Pakistan's dairy and mixed farms.

What does a fodder cutter do?

Fed long, fodder is sorted by the animal. Cattle and buffalo pick the palatable leaf and push the coarse stem aside, so a significant share of what is put in front of them ends up trampled into the shed floor. Chopping to a uniform length removes the ability to sort, so intake goes up and waste goes down.

Chopped fodder is also easier for the animal to process and mixes properly with concentrates and other ration components, which is what makes consistent feeding possible. On a dairy operation, consistency of ration is directly tied to consistency of milk yield.

Adjustable cut length lets one machine serve different needs โ€” shorter for mixing into a ration, longer where more effective fibre is wanted for rumen function. It handles both green fodder such as berseem and maize, and dry material such as wheat straw.

Chaff cutters are also, historically, among the most dangerous machines on a Pakistani farm โ€” hand and arm injuries from feeding rollers are common. Guarding is not an optional extra, and operators must be trained never to clear a blockage without stopping the machine.

Key features

  • Green & dry fodder
  • Adjustable cut length
  • Safety features
  • High output

What is the Fodder Cutter used for?

  • Chopping green fodder โ€” berseem, maize, sorghum, lucerne
  • Chopping dry fodder and wheat straw for cattle and buffalo
  • Preparing consistent rations on dairy operations
  • Reducing feed waste from selective feeding

What to keep in mind

  • Never clear a blockage while the machine is running, and never remove the feed guard.
  • Keep blades sharp โ€” blunt blades bruise and tear fodder rather than cutting it cleanly.
  • Set cut length to the purpose: shorter for mixed rations, longer where effective fibre matters.

Fodder Cutter โ€” questions and answers

Why chop fodder instead of feeding it long?

Fed long, animals sort out the palatable leaf and reject coarse stem, so a large share is trampled and wasted. Chopping to a uniform length prevents sorting, raises intake, reduces waste and allows fodder to be mixed properly with concentrates into a consistent ration.

Can the same machine cut green and dry fodder?

Yes. The machine handles green fodder such as berseem, fodder maize and sorghum, as well as dry material including wheat straw. Adjust cut length to suit the material and its intended use.

What safety precautions matter with a fodder cutter?

Chaff cutters cause serious hand and arm injuries every year in Pakistan, almost always when someone reaches toward the feed rollers. Never clear a blockage without stopping the machine, never remove or defeat the feed guard, and make sure every operator is trained on both points.
